Z3 2.8 Roadster engine number - help!

Hi!

Just joined the community & hoping someone out there can help!

Just bought a '99 Z3 2.8, and am unable to locate the engine number on the engine itself. Anyone know where this might be located?

not sure what you mean by engine number. but it should be a M52B28. maybe you mean serial number or something? :dunno

Thanks for the reply! I mean the actual engine ID number, which would correspond to the VIN number - any ideas?

the engine serial number, it should be written on the side of the block, near the oilpan i believe
