Hedlight Cleaning
I read somewhere you have to bake then in an oven for about half an hour to melt the sealant, pry them apart, and then reseal them with silicone or equivalent sealant. Sounds like a great way to smash them to me!

I think the OP is looking for what we all use to clean our lights, I do not think he wants to take them apart.
I use polishing compound i think I has been so long since I have bought the stuff I forgot what it is called for my light. On the bumper just soup and water and some elbow grease. As long as the car is waxed tar and bugs should come off the painted areas with ease.

Yeah, my bad! I thought he was referring to that annoying discolouration and yellowing that happens inside the headlight! I had a '97 Z and the headlights were just horrible!
Edit the stuff that i use to clean my headlights and the really stuck on bugs is called cleaner wax. I had to use it this weekend so i make a note of it for this post!
To clean the yellow and dirt from the headlights i use plastic cleaner, works great I also use it on the plastic back window to remove light scratch.
