Replacement Battery
I need to replace the battery on my 2003 Z4. Walmart has a battery that they say will work. However, I noticed the original battery has a tube coming out of the side(not sure what it's for)but the replacement battery does not.
Does anyone know what the tube is for and if the replacement battery sans tube is sufficient.

The tube is there to vent the vapors out of the car. You need it, trust me it's the wrong battery.

Thanks Dudesky, you are right. I took my car to Walmart yesterday and they ended up telling me they didn't have the right battery after all. Any idea where i can get a replacement or is the dealer my best choice?

Theres very few aftermarket batteries that supply a vent hole, they are all usually sealed
Ive seen a few cars come in with aftermarket batteris and the vent hose isnt connected. Yes dealer batteries cost a bit more but they are OEM replacement with a 2 yr parts warranty. If price is the factor a aftermarket battery will work w/o the vent hose but if the battery damaged your trunk area BMW will not cover it.

^+1 the OEM batteries are great and I think worth spending the extra cash on, otherwise get something with a lot of cold cranking amps.

Thanks, Everyone I was able to find a replacement vented battery at AutoZone. Their computer search showed 2 different vented batteries for my year, make and model. The Duralast 94R-DLG and the Duralast H6-DLG. The first battery did not fit in the battery well, but the H6-DLG was a perfect match.
Thanks Again!
