cruise control
My '04 X3 2.5i doesn't have cruise control. The dealership assured me that the vehicle did in fact have cruise. My question is this: can cruise control be installed aftermarket? and if it can, will it void the warranty?
Or:
Should I have the dealership find me another vehicle with the equipment that I was promised?

I think I'd at least talk to the dealer about a car with cruise in it. I can't see how installing one could be easy

i really didnt even realize you could get a BMW without cruise control(post like 1985, that is) do you mean its not working or it doesnt have it at all, that being said, are you aware of how to use the system and are you sure it isnt working?

Cruise Control is unnecessary unless your trying to take a nap and not get a speeding ticket.
Have anything in writing from the dealer that it would have cruise? If so make them fix it and make you happy. I have no idea on adding it aftermarket, i'm also surprised it doesn't have it.

It really does not have cruise. It was ordered that way from the factory. And the salesman, sales manager, service tech, service manager, and import service manager all confirmed (by the VIN) that it is indeed cruise-less. There simply are no controls for it on this vehicle.

Or if you have bad knees and can't hold the accelerator for long periods of time. (What do they teach you kids in these schools?)
Window sticker plainly states that the vehicle has cruise control, premium package, cold weather package. Of course, none of those features are on this car.

Great news! The dealership where I bought the X3 is in negotiations with another dealership for a nicely equipped X3 2.5i. It has 5K fewer miles, is priced $1500 less and has way more features. Hopefully this will happen in the next few days.

CC is indeed useful, if you have an automatic. It helps you get better mileage. I use it on mine whenever I'm commuting/driving for a longer time.
Again, gas here will soon be more expensive then perfume :X

You can get Cruise Control added. I've seen it happen many time, couple time on X3s.

Unfortunately, negotiations between the two dealerships broke down. So, my dealer is going to the BMW auction Monday and is going to get me a properly equipped vehicle. There is a possibility that I could wind up with an X5.

Negotiate for an X5 4.4 or No Deal! You won't regret it. Trust me!

*UPDATE* Dealership brought in a 2002 X5 3.0 w/65K mi. Thing was a real POS. Parts missing, vehicle was filthy, seats were torn. Asked salesman why he wasted my time.
Talked to another BMW dealership about installing cruise on the X3. They quoted me $3500 just for parts and said they wouldn't know where to start. So, I went back to where I bought the X3 and told them that I would accept their offer to factory install CC. The salesman nearly swallowed his tongue. However, we're setting up a time to bring the X3 in and have the cruise installed. Without voiding the warranty. At no charge.

Well, it turns out that installing cruise control is just a matter of replacing the steering wheel and reprogramming the vehicle (plug 'n' play). Took all of 1.5 hrs.
I have fallen in love with my BMW all over again. Now what else can I add?
