2004 Tacoma or 2002 x5
Okay, so I'm driving home this afternoon and I see this really nice x5 for sale. I call my wife to see what she thinks and she kind-of, (kind-of) likes my idea.
I thought about getting rid of my 2004 Tacoma. It's red, xtra cab, TRD package, V6, towing package, SR5 package, Remote entry, Pre-runner (nice way of saying 4x2). It only has 7,200 miles that my wife and I have put on it since we bought it new. The other vehicle I would get. A 2002 x5, 3.0 liter, sport package, premium package, tow package, white, with 42,000 miles on it. It would be about a $10,000 bigger loan, with a shorter time, (5 yrs) and a higher interest than the 4.25% I have on my truck for 7 yrs. So higher payments. What should I do guys?!? |
Keep the truck.
If it were a 4.4, I'd probably say it'd be worth it. What does your wife think? |
i would keep it too. its a good truck from a reliable car manufacturer, and super low miles.

i dunno how big the 6 is in the tacoma, but if its a rather small six, id say neither are worth it, the X5 3.0 is useless(just my opinion) and a truck w/out 4WD is also useless.... can u get a toyota tundra, i think those are a little better(may be same price as x5) or the Nissan Titan, but those r kinda expensive
|
i would say no.
that's a lot of money to spend. the tacoma will last for a very long time and save money compared to the bmw. |
Definitely keep the truck you have now. If you bought it new, then you are no doubt "upside down" on the payoff and it will cost you a lot more. When you buy a new car, it depreciates about 20% the day you drive it off the lot. Plus, the Taco is a great truck.

my wife thinks the tacoma is a sexy truck anyway. . . she wanted me to get one
|
Well, I have all your votes to keep the truck and none for the x5. I have enjoyed my truck quite a bit. The only drawback is it's not big enough in the cab, but it sure shines when it is clean!
|
I have a Tacoma, and that thing is the best truck yet. Even if you sell it, you are still looking at a hefty return on your initial investment. But truly, they do run for ever, and compared to an X5 is better..
|
:clap Good choice. :clap
Maybe late on down the road, you'll find the need for an X5, but right now seems the best choice is to keep the Tacoma. I mean, we have no say in what you do....but I think we logically came up with positive and negative analysis solutions for keeping and getting rid of the truck. Anywho. How about some pictures of the Tacoma. :D |

Keep the tacoma. Now, if you were talking about the4.8si, that would be a different story. I had a tacoma for 5 years 4X2 and I loved it. Never had any problems.
|
The Tacoma has been my favorite truck for years. I think the main advantage that the x5 provides is the AWD capabilities. However, it makes more financial snese to keep the truck instead of taking on a bigger loan and the higher maintenace cost of the BMW.
