Ya, that is RIGHT near my house. My girlfriend's parents had to be evacuated late last night. So far their house is fine. Let's hope it stays that way.

The fire hasn't gotten too close to my house yet, but it's probably only 10-20 miles away.... maybe a little more.

^^^ yes, that is fairly close, but it would have to jump the 101 (a major freeway) in order to get to my house. The freeway should be a good fire barrier

One of those "nice houses" was my sister's. Her house is over there, surrounded on 3 sides by fires, and the freeway on the 4th side. Police came to her house last night at 3am and evacuated them (in their pajamas still). They're staying in a hotel right now, very scared that they might lose their house (worth around $800,000).

ive been sayin this for a while. a buddy of mine and I have talked a lot about this. About all of these hurricanes, now fires, polar caps melting REALLY REALLY fast, and he is a big out doorsman and said that he now sees birds and catches fish in areas that have never even seen that species in the area.

We are all going to die. I think we will actually see "The Day After Tomorrow" come to life.

I must give my hat off to the firemen. They have been doing an amazing job at controlling the fire and keeping it away from the houses. With my current knowledge of the situatioin, there has only been one house lost.

My good friends from back home shared pics with me about the fire. All day long the pics kept coming, but because the firemen kept doing their best job, the fire has not moved on yet.

Harry i hope that your sister's house and family are alright, and to anyone else who is or has family in the area, i hope eberything is alright.

EDIT: the fire's are tough to get to and prevent from spreading because most of the fire is in steep valley's and its impossible to get in heavy equipment to dig large fire barriers. the firefighters are having to dig them by hand. something like 3000+ firefighters are helping battle them, along with many helicopters and air tankers.

My sister's house is fine. The firefigher's contained it in her area.

Scared them though, they were pretty sure it was over.
