what I want to do this summer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKVW6...eature=related

it's at an old airfield in the area
the track day costs you about 250 $ per car
the prob is, competition is hard (many Evos and Lotuses, a number Porsches, some Ferraris and some Jap Imports)
as you can see you can also drive older cars but it'll be hard

edit: Maybe I'll go there with a buddy and his 07 GTi

or just go there to watch and drool

Looks like a more or less normal track day, don't worry about the other cars just go have fun and learn about driving fast, its not a race after all. I guarantee you will have a lot of fun and want to do it again at the very least and you might be pleasantly surprised how well the e30 can do.

well...mine's an autotragic and I don't know if the conversion to manual will be done till summer

btw I have a question for you guys: Is it possible to put an E46 SMG (manual automatic) gearbox in my e30? Or would a conversion to standart manual stick-shift be easier?

User not setup in Rate My Car.
Click here to set it up.
i would think that would be pretty hard to put an SMG in there, i would stick with a regular e30 5-speed transmission.

^+1 it would cost entirely too much to do the SMG and still wouldn't be as good as the conventional manual. The Conventional manual will be a lot more cost effective and it should be easy to have handled.

+1 on the manual. Cost and the love of the standard tranny being my reasons.

Btw, track day looks like a ton of fun.

To anyone reading this, track days are a blast and they will make you a much better driver, I would especially look into some that are drivers education track event, because having someone who has done it a lot is an invaluable learning tool and will really help you to learn what is right and wrong.
