lol... that was mainly for the multi-user logon. if only 1 at a time want on to get something in particular I can let it run at 50-75Kb/sec... it started from amanda's post, but I'm deffinately going to put this on a broadband server VERY soon. it'll be a fun project to work on and upkeep.
so, for now we'll go on a login by user request for files just to allow decent d/l speeds. In the next few days to early next week I'll have the new server up and will put that info into this post.

No worries... my way of giving back to the Bimmer community & the board.
The new host will probably be a page based setup with administered rights... ftp hosts are WAY expensive. But it'll be a very simple setup with plenty of bandwidth.

I've got my server paid for the next 6 mos (www.qcbimmer.net), I'm just waiting for my registration information to come through so I can login and begin setting up the page. I'll do most all the page design over the weekend so Sunday when I'm back in town I should be able to upload the page/image information and begin uploading the disk image files.

Alrighty... The site is set, and I have FTP info for it!! I'm waiting to hear back as to how many users can be logged in under one name still... so until then I can either post a generic login, OR everyone who wants on can have an individual login (please, I'm relying on everyone's honor for this... the only FTP accessability is full rights to the directory logged into - so don't delete anything. If it becomes a problem it will be mandatory to have individual logins, and they'll only be given out to those who are well known on the board.) I'll have backups of everything accessable to the 'public' on the server so if anything seems to be missing let me know and I'll copy it back (I'll also check up on it regularly... but sometimes work gets in the way as usual =oP )
The only thing on there right now is the disk information... when I get home I'll start uploading the images themselves so tomorrow morning/afternoon (as soon as it's done) everything will be ready. If you see something on there check it's size (will be listed in the .txt file) to be sure it's finished uploading.
cant wait. i dont think you have to worry about anyone here doing anything to the server. id worry more about someone coming along and finding the information. but since its here in the lounge, its protected from anyone but the occasional poster.

Well, there's a total of nerly 9GB of information I'm uploading... you can log on and read the disk listing to see what you want while the rest is being setup (upload is slowish - 40-50kb/s)

Alright... final update:
Everything except the WDS (wiring diagram system) is uploaded and available. The WDS is the largest disk, so it should be finished by tomorrow evening at the very latest.
Everyone enjoy, if more FTP accounts are needed I'll create them - just let me know the logon limit for the username has been reached and I'll add another couple to accomodate the additional users.
