whats your opinion?

My sister has a friend that basically just wants to get into her pants..lol..but anyways he was laid of with a bunch of other people a month or so ago and now he just got a job up in phoenix. So since my mom drives up to phoenix and back twice a day my sister asked my mom if she could do a carpool thing with him. This all happened like a week ago. My mom started asking more about what the job is and stuff. It is across the street from where she goes. BUT she knows that they are on strike. So my mom got kind of irratated and said something to my sister about him being a scab I was talking to her about it and walmart came up because a truck cus one of their trucks pissed her off. I said something about he could be better off to get on his knees at walmart.. but that comes from them never having a chair at their computer application things..thats what she always used to say when my other sister wanted to apply there.(my mom was a union truck driver and she was one of the ones that when they were on strike she would go out in a car and "delay" the scab trucks from making the deliveries. shes a dam good driver from all that though..I keep telling her she should start doing some amateur racing because she would be good.) So my mom said no and my sister has kept asking the past week and my mom is getting kind of mad about it. So my question for you guys is would you ever knowingly take a job when the people were on strike? and if you took a job and didn't know they were on strike what would you do once you found out?

Ok. What is a scab and a scab truck? I'm not familiar with those terms.

2nd, how old is your sister?

To answer your question, 1) It depends. Big companies have strikes on occasion. If I took a job and found out they were on strike I would consider my options: how much I was being paid, how much experience I'm getting, how long the "project" or whatever I'm doing is going to last, how long the company is going to last, what the company is going to do about lay offs (not laid off). Obviously if they just hired me, they wouldn't fire/lay me off. Maybe the company is going through a take over or buy out? Dunno, but seems pretty good. What is he doing for the company?

I am an un opinionated son of a bitch.

Taking the job would depend on too many factors, I don't really like unions anymore anyway i think they have served their purpose.

heh..one is 21 and the other 25. The unions here are not that strong and there is still a need for them...at least in tucson and phoenix..I personally would never take a job if I knew there was a strike..parially because of my mom but also just because it would be wrong. The people that are on strike are trying to improve something and it is usually not unreasonable. Plus whats going to happen when the strike is over? Chances are that you will either have no job or all of your coworkers will not like you. idk..maybe I'v just ended up more like my mother then I thaught I would..

unions are usually run by shit heads and strikes usually end up making the striking workers worse off - lost income, no gains from striking ect.
my dad practices labor law and i hear about this shit all the time.
