Exclamation It's getting colder, folks

Just a reminder, time for that winter pre-check and maintenance . . now is the time, not when it's 15deg and snowing out

-Check your electrical system: clean & tighten battery posts, check your alternator connections.

-Run your heater/defrosters if you haven't already. Make sure it's running right. Also check your antifreeze, hoses & belts.

-Inspect your wiper blades, replace if worn, or get winter blades. Stock up on windshield washer fluid.

-Take care of any lighting issues- daylight is shorter during the winter.

-Tire pressure will need adjusting for colder months. Make sure you have enough tread left.

-Fix exhaust leaks, if any. This can be particularly deadly in the winter, with the windows closed and the heater recirculating in the car.

-Keep your gas tank at least half full to prevent condensation.

-Some things you might wanna throw in the trunk: gloves, ice scraper/brush, tow rope, booster cables, a bag of sand or kitty litter, shovel, extra washer fluid, maybe a blanket in case you get stuck-n-f**ked

If you have other suggestions, feel free to add them to the list . .

Here in the Pacific Northwet it is Rainy Season that is coming.

Time to put on the rain tires!

Unless you are a Skier, then you get to travel from Rain to that dreaded white stuff falling from the sky

Not only check the battery connections, but check the battery itself, i.e. fill the cells to their proper level with distilled water, or even have the battery checked. A thing called CCC, cold cranking capacity (sometimes abbreviated CCA, for cold cranking amperage, I think) is what's of concern with the colder weather approaching. Where it's feasible, use a battery warmer to maintain its efficiency in cold weather.

Oh, I also found out that the dealer has a thermos that's electrically heated through the lighter socket, for your coffee, tea, cocoa, or soup. Around $38, not bad...
