Im a changed man....sorta'
So as of sunday, I have a new outlook on the daimler chrysler line up. I cant give it any one reason, but I will say this. I was walking through a chrysler dealership, and noticed something very unusual. At least it was unusual to me. All the brake disks were in perfect condition. I mean no corosion at all away from the braking surface. Why? you ask. Well all the hubs and tops of the brake disks were actually painted. Naturally there was corosion on the braking surface due to the cars and trucks sitting idle. But the rest of the rotor was as new looking as the vehicles they were supposed to stop. Since I put the cross drilled and sloted rotors on my car, and had to paint the surfaces that were not working, I have paid extra close attention to this seemingly minor detail on every high end car I come across. I wouldnt call it an epiphony, since we are talking about an object that has no real vcalue to the soul. But it is definetly a bit of an eye opener. If a company like Dodge can pay attention to a detail, most people overlook. Then they have a vote of confidence from me. Im sure that the mercedes designers had some input here. And that, I think is my point. I know that the factory BMW brake disks are painted, as well as the all the ones Ive seen on mercedes and audi. Have you ever looked behind the oversized rim on an escalade? Pretty frigin rusted man. Thats trailer park luxury if you ask me. Now dont get me wrong. Im a chev guy till the day I die. But only for working trucks and 4x4's. If the hub on the brake disk gets a little rusty on those... who really cares. They arent trying to pass it off as a luxury vehicle. Incidentaly the dodge pickups brake rotors were all painted.
well. Heh today i got passed by a toyota Xa...mostly cause i was just being a lazy ass...keep in mind this is over a windy road. I then remebered what my mom said last week.
She said even though it might handle the same, be just as fast, and aparently just as safe(which i think it BS most of the time) its still missing that extra time they took to build them.
I guess thats what JYbute is getting at, but im sure if you really looked into it that chrysler still isnt the same as a BMW, Porshce, or any other higher end car.
also...its still a chrysler..and thats not gonna change.

That is true... however it is something that I think car makers have overlooked for ever (coroded brake parts) I mean.. Im sure they still perform the way they are supposed to, but it looks real bad. And if "Dodge" can take care of the problem of rusty brake disks, then I think it might be safe to say that they have taken care of some other minor, but overlooked problem. I mean, dont get me wrong, the chances I ever bought one are slim to none. But it is still an improvement in my opinion.
