No, it's not my car, but Dinan's very own "black-on-black" (looking of course very mean, sharp and aggressive no less) E60 built up at their state-of-the-art Morgan Hill, CA high performance headquarters. You can be sure this is one issue I'll be looking forward to reading with much interest. Oh yeah!!!!
Now that you mention it, I'll be getting that issue too.

I love the e60 545i Sport. Especially with Dinan.

My dear friend, YOU have absolutely exquisite and wonderful taste here!

BTW, correction on the BIMMER MAG info. The detailed review will be in issue #62 all right, but the November 2006 version (not October as originally posted by me - sorry!!).

Issue #62 should hit the stands or your mailbox very soon now.

Looks like issue #61 is already spoken for in October 2006.

Anyone want to put money on say an e36 m3 dinan, vs say an m3 modified by a different company? Just wondering, to see if the extra money for dinan is worth it... I'm sure someone on bimmerforums would do it.

I think the ONLY place i'd go other than Dinan for engine mods is AA tuning and only for their M3 Setups.

To stomp on the rest you gotta mess with the best. END OF STORY

Greetings there!

There's quite a few forum members here who employs Dinan high performance wares on their wheels, including myself.

BTW, still waiting for my Dinan 5 rear deck badging. I'm told it's a completely new design, given the new E60 5th generation 5er body style and overall direction. Should be interesting to say the least.

But, yes, german bred Breyton is another highly respected name in motorsports. Love their wheelsets in particular.

you mean put money on something like this? i take this one to the bank for sure. holy moly. what a complete package of total power, refinement, beauty and civility that only Dinan could engineer and develop.

there's probably tons of cars out there that are brute faster/quicker, but effectively unified and integrated as one like Dinans? Nicely done.

has anybody here tried to use the dinan warranty? there are tons of horror stories on bimmerforums about warranty problems regarding dinan e36 superchargers. it has been so bad that when dinan became a supporting vendor on bf.c they were laughed off of the forum. with new cars you should not even need extra warranty. aside from forced induction non of the dinan mods are going to give huge power increases anyways. intake, exhasut and software give some but not a lot of extra grunt. DINAN MAKES GREAT STUFF BUT NOT SO THAT IT SHOULD COST WAY MORE!!!!

^^^ what are some examples of DINAN costing so much more, is it really THAT much more for DINAN products? edit: A DINAN CAI cost like what 450 dollars?(I just looked one up for a 328i) for me to give up going with a company like DINAN the opposing company would have to offer an intake of just as high quality for at least 75-100 dollars less than that. edit2: I just looked up a CAI on tuner motorsports for the same car. A good one would be around 400 dollars.

just go to their page for the 3 series.
1. a set of wheels that cost $5296, check out tirerack for top quality wheels. nothing close to that price.
2.e36 exhausts $999 vs 640 (uuc )
3. dinan maf kit $466 + $449 vs 359+ 239 (eurosport)
4. 7k for e36 vortech super charger vs $8495 ( eurosport twin screw) vs $5695 (AA - vortech) vs $4500 (VF - vortech ) vs tt stage 1 turbo $6800
5. $2400 for oil cooler kit vs $500 for vdp oil cooler kit
6. $2115 for stage 3 suspension vs ground control coilovers that could be had for the same and be much better.
7. and then there is the intake manifold for a few thousand vs. m50 intake manifold approx. $300 which is good to 1000hp

i could go on and on but i think all the examples speak for themselves. DINAN IS OVERPRICED!!!!!

For the E39 540i, the dinan intake manifold is $1500 plus labor. You can buy a pre 1998 intake manifold off of the 540i or 740i and get the same part that Dinan sells.

BW is correct in that their engine mods give moderate gains, but when put together they give excellent gains. My car is much more responsive and faster than a stock 540i.

I don't doubt that you can buy throttle bodies, cat back exhaust, manifold, MAFS and engine software from different companies and get similar gains for less money than Dinan.

To each his/her own.

All of you are right on the money here!! Ultimately it boils down to what your willing to pay for these mods. If you perceive the value to be worth it you're more likely to shell out the outrageous $'s involved.

Otherwise, there's always alternatives out there. Isn't our capitalistic and market economy a great one? With competition there's always choice.

Like you shared, to each their own. Sort of like why some folks will only purchase a Rolex watch (costing thousands) when a Timex Quartz model (costing as little as $100) actually keeps better time and is more accurate. Again, to each their own.

One thing for sure though. There will always be a target market for Dinan - irrespective of their exoborant prices. They have built up quite a reputation and following over the past couple of decades. This includes their exclusive and vast BMW dealership network & partnership, complimentary warranties matching BMW's, and not to mention their 50-state emission certified compliance feature.

Say that we both had 5k to spend on a car, and one of us used dinan, and someone else used different aftermarket companies, we all know which car would be better. I guess people are assuming that if BMW dealerships do dinan work that it must be great...
