Wow. What a day.

The bad news: Woke up this morning to the sound of gushing water. Went down the basement and found my water heater ruptured, with hot water all over the place Had to head down to Home Depot, $740, and they can't install it till tomorrow . . I guess it'll be a cold shower in the morning. The good part is that the Home Depot card has no payments for 12mo and no interest

The good news: Took a nice ride out to PA (110mi each way) to pick up an M3 catback exhaust for $100 It was a nice trip, despite getting a screw stuck in my front tire. Luckily there was an auto parts store still open, and I got me a plug kit. I'll let you all know how this muffler works out when I install it sometime this week.

Sucks that your hotwater has failed you and the screw also sucks but I hope you like your new exhaust.

should flow a little better, but the m3 exhaust weighs a bit more. No idea on sound, do you have an intake man?

That sucks about the heater dudesky, hope it is all fixed properly.

Yea, what a mess in the basement. We store a lot of papers and documents, but luckily we were smart enough to put them in plastic file bins. But a bunch of other stuff got wet, like my old records from my DJ days, and we had to pull up some carpet and throw it out. At first I was afraid to go near the tank, 'coz in the old days before they made relief valves, these things would literally explode and shoot through the house and out the roof like a missle- I kid you not, I've seen videos of this happening. Anyhoo, they should have the new one installed by noon today.

My existing exhaust is 'blown out', and it sounds like crap. The guy I bought it from (Werked323is on BF.c) said it would sound quieter, I'm hoping it'll have a nice slight, deep breathy tone. I'm not concerned about extra power or flow, and I doubt it would give me that anyway. But I am concerned that it looks a little bigger and it does weigh more. But it should just bolt up, right? Anyone ever do this swap?

EDIT: woo hoo- if I wasn't awake before, I am now . . just showered and that water is c-c-cold

Our heater went bad once and we didnt get it fixed for months. Needless to say, I never really got used to the cold showers. However, they aren't really as bad as everybody makes the out to be.

^^^Well, right now the exhaust is in my shop at work. I'm fixing a couple of minor rust spots on the exterior shell, then I'll be priming and painting it. Just got done scotch brite-ing the s/s tips and polishing them.

Sounds like a crazy day, I have had a few of those.

And like some of the guys are saying, a cold shower isnt that bad. Its actually kind of refreshing.

My brother has an M3 catback on his 328i I love the sound of it. Nice and deep at low revs and idle, but it SCREAMS when you get on it hard.
