if you are in a different state and you get caught for speeding, you might as well just pay the fine and do the same thing(happened to my dad too) because it doesnt matter, its in a different state, no points on your drivers license(different state) and insurance wont know about it

Actually a lot of states are linking their systems together so if you have points in lets say Michgan and get pulled over in Indiana you might have all your info pop and get connected to the system, in which case you may see shit happen to insurance.
Insurance co's have a better linked system than alot of states do (especially national isurance cos) They'll find out sooner than your home state - now whether they do something right away is up to them. If you're a habitual offender they usually react fast. If it has happened a couple of times in recent years they usually wait until renewel. Also if you are an "out of stater" and get a ticket, they make you pay the fine on the spot in alot of states.
as has been said, go to court... simply ask the court officer/DA/traffic clerk/judge or whomever oversees the proceedings if there is any way to reduce the point deduction.... this has worked for me twice (hopefully a third time come August 8th)
Try contacting the DA prior, set up an appt. or ask over the phone if there is any way they would be willing to give you some points back. I've had 3 tickets dismissed by doing this, 2 others reduced.
I'm not sure about the MA pt system.... but in WI you start with 12..... if you lose some, you will gain back 1 per month
If you are really cutting it close and fear losing your license, appear in court, plead "not guilty" and request a jury trial.... this will buy you a few months to gain points back just from passing time..... call the DA a few weeks prior and settle.... agree to pay the fine instead of actually going to trial.
Traffic Courses in WI will only get you 3 pts and cost you from $50 - $210..... I'm sure the results would be similar if there is a program in MA
last month I got 4 back just by appearing in court and asking them to reduce the point deduction
