2006 Washington State Olympic Lifting Meet

yesterday was the 2006 Washington State High School Olympic Lifting meet. I competed in the 77kg. weight class (169 lbs). I power snatched 80kg. and clean and jerked 100kg. I ended up getting 2nd in my weight class, by only 5 kg.

I think I just want to beat this kid.

there was one guy there that almost clean and jerked 308lbs. He had it up, but couldnt keep his arms locked.

nice, I want to start lifting, not sure about the lifting contests though.

Any pointers for someone starting off, im not trying to get all big and bulky, but a bit stronger, maybe get up to benching low 200's eventually?

^^^I started lifting with a buddy that knew more than I did. After that, it became a routine that I lifted 4 times per week. I started to read muscle magazines (not men's fitness). I learned from reading and talking to guys at the gym that were in better shape than I was.

yeah, just find a buddy that has been working out for a really long time, go to the gym with him for a while, you'll get the hang of it.

thanks fellas, yeah a couple of my friends work out all the time, I don't even know how much they can lift, I know one can curl just over 100, isn't that quite a bit? Well I think it's curling haha
