Actually it will become a very serious problem in the US within the next year. The price of chicken and turkey will match that of Gasoline after the first outbreak in a US flock.

Easy to say from your standpoint, I just came back from overseas and it's a major issue. Especially where outbreaks(in birds) have occurred. I don't know what the media here is saying but try going through customs once... they're very uneasy about the whole notion.

i have heard it was a big problem in the neatherlands (i think) for a while and they ended up killing an INSANE amount of poultry and disposing of them just to keep the rest of the surviving birds from being infected as well as trying to keep it from hopping into ppl.

But thats not my favorite part. My favorite part is where your last sentence is well written and meaningful, which would be nice, but the way its written is as a closer, when in all actuality, there's no intellectual content preceeding it whatsover.

I honestly don't think that chicken and turkey will rival or equal the price of gas the first time it hits. It may do so if cases become consistent, but not on the first time. Look at beef, prices didn't double when the first case of mad cow was found in the US.

for some odd reason, the general public of the united states seems to trust the government when it comes to food-borne disease control. Like mad-cow for example, the case was found, the government dealt with it publicly to prevent panic, they handled it well, and it went away. Nobody paniced. As long as they do that with Avian flu and handle things well, things should be alright.

Tamiflu needs to be administered within 24 hours of contracting the virus. However, you don't expect to see symptoms for nearly 48 hours. So, it won't work once you begin to show signs. Could rate up there with Y2k for a media blow-out. If a pandemic does arrive, isolation will be your best defense.

As far as what I said being unintelegent......... well I have shared my opinion, just like all those who replied. All of our opinions are based on where we get our information. I am the type who gets it from many sources, (news paper, T.V., the internet, UB.c, friends and family) and make my opinions based on the pieces of information that I feel are accurate, so if you go by what CNN and only what CNN says then YOU are an idiot.

oh yeah, and I haven't heard anyone else complaining. I tell you what, you get 5 people on here that want me gone, Ill go. If not , stay out of my threads.
