Hey man, you can't knock the best team in sports history! :-)

Don't discount the Yanks quite yet. They have a good squad (though, i still don't understand why they didn't do some major pitching adjustments this off season). They aren't out of it by any stretch. They aren't necessarily in it, either. Factually, we haven't even hit the break yet, so there is still far too much ball to be played to call anything yet.

Puleeeez . . As the richest ballclub in the game, you ought to be asking what happened during the years that they didn't win? Did you know the ATM at Yankee Stadium charges you $5 for a withdrawal?

All jesting aside, I don't mind the Yanks. But they're 3rd on my list. And Envy, Boston is my 2nd fav team

Nope. Money doesn't necessarily buy championships. The years the yanks one (most recently), a big chunk of their starters were pulled through their farm system.

Also, please note: Baseball is a business. If the Yankees hire savy business people to make more money for the team, that makes business sense. The more money they make, the more they can reinvest in their business. The key element of most businesses is the worker. The better trained workers you have, generally, the higher the wage and the better the service. Baseball usually isn't much different. Of course, you still need chemistry at the workplace.

Should there be a cap in baseball? Yeup. Even with the cap, though, you'd still see the yanks as contenders, I believe.

I like the Cubs, too. Oddly enough. Maybe because they are the loveable losers. *shrugs* :-D They aren't close to number one, though.

No argument there. At least you're a smart Yankee fan. Unlike the idiots who run around over here talking shit, only like them because everybody else does. I hate bandwagon fans.

You don't think that the money the Yankees generate has anything to do with the fact they have the largest local market in the US, come-on, its the biggest city in the US. You can stick a shitty team in there and they could make money. If the Yankees played in St. Petersburg, FL, like the Marlins who have terrible attendance despite their 2 championships in their short history, they couldn't make any money. It is geography more than good business men!

Not true, sir. Mets don't get revenue like the Yankees. Neither do the Jets nor the Giants (different sports, but same entertainment market). Factually, I can go ANYWHERE in the US and find Yankees merchandise. They took their marketing strategy to a whole new level. People in China and Japan are rocking Yankee gear. People in South Africa with Yankee hats on. The Yankees found a way to personify AMERICA. THAT is what makes them so rich.

Also note: Marlins play in Miami, not St. Pete. St. Pete is the Devil Rays.

Think about it this way - if what you say is true, the Knicks should be the most popular and best team in Basketball history.
HAH! We all know THAT isn't the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. . . . damn Knicks.

The Celtics are the most winning team in BBall and the Lakers are probably the most popular. Neither of which is the largest market in the US. To be successful, you transcend your local market. It's the same thing in every entertainment field. You don't blow up by staying local. You have to become national and then global.

Good argument, but now you have to look at history and time the Franchise has been around. I don't think the current front office is conducting the right business to be a dominent world-wide known baseball team, but the rich history has set them up for where they are today.
