My new office :)
I'd like to introduce you all to my first ever office.
I just started a job at an engineering firm today. I was given this semi cubical with a standard desk and (not seen in pic, located opposite of desk) a drafting table.
I glad I'm finnally able to get into the career field.

Actually, I just noticed something. . . . .
are they operating on MS? I would've thought you'd use MACs instead. I know with music and video, mac is the standard. Much more stable and handles high end applications better.

Dude, look at that keyboard, you think this beast is handling huge ass applications? Haha. We're running something like a P2, I think. I haven't checked, but these guys are old (in computer terms). The heaviest applications that they use is AutoCAD. Beyond that... that's it.
oh, and it hasn't sucken in yet, but i'm sure eventually, I'll feel more comfortable there... still too new.

PC, I think it's a general rule that east coast (for the most part) uses PC's while the west uses Mac's. Though some schools, like my girl's (in St. Pete, FL), use both. I could be wrong, but that's just my impression.

The desk is just there for me to use when I'm not in the field. My hours are 7:30am to 4:15pm. Today, I took a 3 hour drive to deliver a proposal to south Jersey. Tommorrow, I'll be in some little training, and later on in the summer, I'll be going to bridges all over the parkway to inspect them for deterioration. At least that's the plan. I may also be going to JFK airport for other projects. Everything is still in the air at this point.

Congrats, Dough. You've just entered the world of old man madness Take a good look at that cubicle . . someday it will make you nuts like a rat in a cage. (just kidding).
Macs are coming up, but I doubt they will surpass PC's in design & engineering anytime soon, since the standard app is still AutoCAD. At my job, we use Vectorworks extensively on Macs, but we still have PC's right beside them for when outside firms send us .dwg's or .dxf's. Yea, you can convert them in Vectorworks, but you may sometimes lose pertinent information or details in the process.
