Your Ride: Whatever I can get my hands on
okay, this is important, please read.
so i'm transferring schools next semester, but my GPA is total shit. i'll be transferring out of state from a private school to a public school. if i apply to the new school and never tell them about previously being a student at the old school, will they find out? like, is there a system that they plug your info into to find out if you've been to a previous school and lied about it?
this may be a bit wrong, but its not a choice, so the question is, will i get caught? is there anyone ehre who knows anything about this?

if it was a private school i'm pretty sure the only way they can get your old gpa would be to ask the private school for it. so if they never know about a previous school i don't see how they could find out.

ditto that for publics. if you dont report going to the school, they most likely will not know. financial aid may be a problem, though. you might find some catch-ups there.
ALSO, pleaaaaaaaase note:
IF YOU DO NOT REPORT THE SCHOOL, YOU ARE NOT A TRANSFER STUDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!
You are starting all over as a freshman w/zero creds.

They can find out, if you ask them to do so and direct them to that info. In most cases, students want to transfer credits and have that previous work counted toward their studies in the new school.
Have you even inquired about this? Some schools transfer the credits but not the grades. My buddy with whom I wnet to college in a private school was doing bad while studying engineerng there. He transferred to a public university, where he was able to get credit for many of his classes, but his GPA started with a clean slate. They don't count his grades from outside the university toward his GPA.

see, i could NEVER transfer with my gpa, because ass hle teachers failed me off of attendence, so my gpa ended up being a wopping 1.0
how could financial aid become a hang up though?

If they have your SS# they can find out ALOT of info (not just your credit info) Your SS# is like a national report card - they can get police reports, and literally any info that you've provided your SS# for, including school(s) - it all comes down to how much they actually check.

well then, here's the question. with a .08 in colelge thanks to shitty professors that only care about attendence once the semester is over, a 2.9 in high school, and a 1250 on the SATs, you think i could get into my parents (and two of my uncles) alma Mater? you think they'd let me in if i went and had a detailed discussion with the dean about how i hated the school and it wasn't for me and i wasn't motivated and all that other shit they want to hear?

That's going to come down to the school and how sincere you plead your case. They might do a "probationary time" or a quarterly/ semester type option - to prevent another incident of "low motivation" and they'll be watching your grades & attendance pretty hard. It's all up to them & you.

so basically what happened to clear things up was that i was told by all my professors at the begining of the semester that attendence didn't matter, so the classes that i had a's in i didn't go to. so i earned A's in three classes after finals and then my grades show up and all three of those a's are F's now with notes of poor attendence on all of them... sucks.

I know & understand yor frustration - you knew the shit you're supposed to, but showing up was boring, or tedious and you feel you got F#$$Kd by profs that killed your grades because of attendance. But on their side of that coin - attendance = responsibility/reliability on your part and in their eyes and/or the "grading scale" - they consider you below standard because of attendance. (does that make sense?)
Try this: If I hired you as a tech and you did 'killer" work but didn't show up for work on a regular basis, how long do you think I'ld be able to keep you? It's all part of the grading system. (I know work vs learning isn't the perfect example but I'm just trying to convey the reliabilty issue and that's part of schooling these days regardless of what profs tell you. There's alot of employers who will do the same to you, they give you vague instructions then make more expectations than what you were initially told - then you get "bent over" and a bad rep because of it)

i see your point, but, the only reason why i didn't go to class was because they basically said i didn't have to and I already ahd an A. if they made it seem anything to the contrary, i would have been to every class even if i was dead. it's that they said one thing at the begining of the semester and another at the end of the semester that pisses me off, because if they weren't all like, i don't care show up its your money. i woulda been there. but they made it clear that they didn't care.

I hear ya, like you mentioned "they didn't care". If they did they might have said something but that's typical of society these days. A bunch of shallow f'ing people who think of no-one but themselves. (Just don't take that as gospel, because I've had instructors/profs who were great inspirations and I owe them alot of credit. I had some deadbeats too but that's their problem not mine..lol) Just ALWAYS "C.Y.A." (cover your ass) regardless of what they say. Just take it as another learning experience (don't believe/trust everything people tell you) and turn it around and make it a "positive" learning experience -> you're not going to be a "low life scumbag" like they are. You'll go a long way bro ... hang in there, it'll work out.

Financial Aid can become a hang up a few ways. You need to keep your GPA above a certain level to remain eligible for aid. You have to make satisfactory progress as a student. Now, if you decide to transfer and not start fresh, that will be a problem (also, entrance period may be a problem because you have to be in good academic standing with all previous institutions).
Now, if you DONT transfer and you start fresh, you may STILL have a problem. If your school's financial aid dept. is observent, it will notice that you've received financial aid at another institution. They will also see your soon-to-be current coarse load. Logic? If this kid had financial aid before, why is he enrolled in Eng Comp 101? They could then inform administration. Now, that is not guaranteed. Many financial aid places just look at your current eligibility for student aid. I'm saying, though, that it COULD be a hang up. Also, the federal government could red flag your account for inelligibility. Best way to find out is to try it and see what happens.
And about the Dont Care remarks. They really do not care if you show up. That doesn't mean that you aren't required to do so. It is your call. If you don't want to show, fine, but realize the consequences. They don't care and shouldn't care. You are an adult who is capable of making informed decisions. Doesn't mean they are bad professors. Factually, too many people lack self accountability these days. It starts at a young age (I'm a geography teacher, 7th grade - I see it already in many of the students). The only way to break that cycle is by letting people sink or swim - tough love, if you will.
Personally, if you received good marks on your assignments, you should try talking to the dean of your college to see if it can be dealt with, but only AFTER you speak with the professor and try to get it handled. If you really want to call him out, ask to see his/her attendence records proving that you were not there daily. I'll say, good luck.
