Converting for a woman?

Im new and emo posts are far and few between but I can't talk about it on my other forum.....

I am actually somewhat of an atheist..moreso agnostic. Im the last one in my family who has found a reason to believe in god. I believe in evolution and proof of existence would be the only thing for me to believe in god.

Now I am not asking if I should "believe" for this woman, but would you, in any case, convert religion to be with a woman?

edit: now with pole

Well, I guess if the girl is intense enough for me, I'd have to really think about it

I have to give a sermon at my church next sunday for some youth thing since I am a graduating senior, and the youth director there was saying: "talk about how church has affected you in your life" and I just went "uhhhhh....it makes me wake up 4 hours too early on sundays?"

I would be okay with believing if something divine and life-altering happened, but I can't change what I believe just for a woman who is perfect in every respect. Sad.

^^ Do not convert for a woman. If she intrigues you, then you can only benefit from looking into understanding her belief system, meet others who share those beliefs, and try to understand the culture. If you feel compelled to know more, then go for it.

You may feel tempted to pretend like you have changed or converted, but that is just unfair to her and to yourself.

Do not diss something just like that. A relationship will not work if you have such a big difference in your fundamental belief systems. Explore hers with an open mind, but dont adopt them just to get with some woman.

My sentiments exactly.. I totally respect her beliefs. She is a recovering catholic extremist, so she does not attempt to push her beliefs on me, but the way she talks about it, with such passion, it really intrigues me. I'm rather emotionally devoid, I dont cry, I dont overanalyze and get sad, I guess it is a bad thing - I never feel those things that she does.

All I want is that feeling of the warmth she feels, she is a complete person and I think I take a number two spot in her heart because of that. I just dont want our differences to come in the way - she mentions that she wants to know she can share that feeling she gets, and she can't with me. I'm surprised we have made it this far with that difference. She's truly a great person for that.

I think religion should be your personal preference. If she believes something different, so be it, but what you think shouldn't be influenced by what she thinks. And if it's meant to work, she'll understand your point of view and beliefs.

No offense, but I've never really been into religion, I respect everyone's opinion and religion, but personally, I believe in god but don't need a messenger

Agreed, and I think she agrees too, however I also think she realizes that makes us two different people and we could never click on the level she needs because I dont believe and she does.

I feel like the skinny kid at fat camp.

the bad thing about being in your 20's is: there is nothing out there to help lead you to god. unless its someone talking to you or somethign and they tend to mess things up. i realy didnt have a reason to believe in got for a whil, you know, just believed in god because the rest of my family did. but a few years ago i went to a church camp where alot of realy eye-opening things happend. after that i had a huge reason to believe. but im too lazy to get into it right now. now, about the topic: NEVER believe in something just because someone els does. i mean, before that camp thing i said i was a christian but inside i realy didnt know why or if it was even if it was real. believe in it if you atualy believe, but never because you want to be with some one.

i think it depends. now if you're catholic and she's presbyterian, thats like catholic and catholic-lite but if you're catholic and she's say....buddhist, thats totally different. If it was like the difference between two different types of christianity, i'd convert if it was that big f a deal to her.... or her parents (my gf's parents are asian which equals uber religious so i pretend to be uber religious around them) but i don't think i caould change from catholic to like buddhist. two totally different situations.
