Yea man, i love it I try to make them think i'm scopping it out to steal.
In my summer job I sometimes have to photograph car dealers and I end up taking pictures from across streets and sometimes closer and its pretty funny cause I have had managers and such come out and ask what I was doing, Like I was casing the lot.
Find someplace more scenic than a parking deck for photos - I wouldn't care about soccer/mall moms giving me the evil eye, but I'd rather have neater stuff in the background if possible than concrete and other cars.
you'll know other gearhead/car geeks when someone walks up to you while taking photos, and asks you questions about the car!
