Best I can do for now:

Now, people, please don't wait in anticipation. I mean, he may just chicken out. I just don't want you folks waiting for some Ford tearing off it's rear end or anything...

You know, for this case, it's not so much the girth as it is the length.

this is a good idea.

heh...my dad was stubborn about a big tree we had. It had a 2.5' base diameter...when it fell unexpectedly it almost took out the neighbors house...heh.

I say cut it out. Just make sure if ur not doing it professionally that u know what ur doing. A 20foot christmas tree in your front room prolly doesnt sound appealing.

The pics...as promised

Ah... now for the pics.

Before anything was done, this is the ol pine tree.

After traveling to Home Depot, tow chain and some sort of tensioner assembly bought, attached the assembly to the Escape and the tow chain ~1/2 to 2/3 up the pine.

And pull....

The tensioner had about six feet of slack, when tightened, ^^that was the result.

View from inside the "truck":

And here we have Arbor Erectus:

Yea, I know it's still crooked, but, the trunk has always leaned out, so this is pretty much how it's looked for 40 years. Sorry the pic is dark, it rained a few minutes after this pic was taken.

The makeshift support, made from two 2x4's with a 3.5in bolt making a cradle while the pine resituates itself.

Soooo....
Tow Chain...$36
Tensioner...$35
Bolt, washer, nut and drill bit...$4.55

Making the old man's day... Priceless

Dough, that middle pic(tilted tree vs Ford) should have the caption:

"Monster Mirror Air Freshner goes on rampage - film at 11:00pm"
OR
"Air Freshner overwelming?"

Yea you know, I didn't even notice that it does actually look like a tug-o-war between the escape and pine... guess Ford would like these pics as proof of Ford Prowless?

haha...

well, no cause it wasn't like we did it as planned... that tensioner thingy was all that we used to prop the pine tree up. The escape was just used as a massive paper weight. As you rocked the lever on the tensioner, the slack in the chain was taken away and the tree was pulled towards the Escape.

No, my dad didn't rub it in, but he smiled the rest of the day as his favorite tree didn't have to be cut down... well, not today...
