Yeah. You could easily do any of that if you put your mind to it. The stairs might be something that I might steal when I grab a house in the future. I was thinking just a handle hidden on the bottom step that you just pull up on that is spring/shock loaded. I guess you could add electronic abilities to it as well and use a remote to open it. I would hide an IR port somewhere in the room, so only aiming the remote in a certain direction will open it. A signal would be too easy if someone found the remote.
