Poor 4-Runner
yep... I knew it was going to happen, my wife rear ended someone, a ford F-450 $0 damage to the big one tone, $3900 to the toyota. Damn... good thing i know a good body guy, I can get it fixed for half that.
for those of you who dont know, I actually came to UB.c for advice on whether or not she should get a $-runner or a 5 series, man am I glad she was in the 4-runner. I dont think a 5 series would have faired as well. And its pretty cool the way cars are made to absorb all the shock in an impact like that. She was going about 60kmh (around 35mph) and she didnt even feel it she said. My son was in the back and he said all he notced was a crunching sound. oh yeah and the airbags didnt even go off.. weird, but they will be tested to make sure they work, and it would have been even more $$$$ to fix if they had gone off.
actually im pretty sure 5 series are pretty safe.
Airbags not going off seem to be a problem in alot of older new generation cars. My friend flipped a saturn and the side curtain airbags didnt go off. Nothing.
Glad everyones ok.

yeah that is strange that the airbags didnt go off... but at the same time it is good 'cuz it was fairly minor and would be pretty pricey to have them reinstalled.
When i wrecked my van it took a second after impact for the airbags to deploy, so had i been going faster they woulda been of almost no use whatso ever.

^^^ i should have thought about pics... I have them on my phone but I dont yet have a way to upload them, i think ill be investing in some blue tooth software in the next little while. And the truck is at my buddies shop wich is 40 minutes out of town, otherwise..........
If she didn't even feel the impact, there's no need for the airbags to have gone off. They're designed to only go off if the impact is hard enough to throw your head forcefully towards the steering wheel or windshield.

good point.

Some idiot rearended a friend of mine's RX 300 while playing with the iDrive on his E60. The RX just needed a little touching up on the bumper and a new muffler, but the 5er was completely destroyed on the front end. The radiatonr went bye bye. The entire front end was completely shattered. The guy was going like 45 mph.
I am glad to know your wife and kid are fine. My friend is having health trouble from her accident still. It was in May of last year. She had nerve damage in her neck, which led to her needing a pacemaker (she's only 27), being clinically dead, and in need of miracolous healing at the moment. I know this is a total hijack, but I have been active on a couple of boards for a hile now and hadn't shared this. It is very important to be responsible while driving.
