China blocks VOIP services for at least 2 years...
China has just instated a ban for at least the next two years on VOIP communications in an attempt to secure their fixed telephone business. This has been a major setback for Skype, which has been in talks for the past year to launch their SkypeOut service in China.
From the article, "China Telecom has described Skype's services as illegal and the newspaper said last year that China was experimenting with software in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen to block them."
actually you have that backwards. China is a communist state. State run entities have always blocked competition in an attempt to allow themselves to live longer than they should. France is taking lessons from communism.
I think this might actually make slashdot too. I submitted it and it's been pending for over 24 hours, which means it probably got past the first level of moderation. They could still reject it, or they could be modifying the article before publishing.

Sound's like a thing China would do, they keep opening up their markets but still can pull shit like this and probably will until they get rid of the communist government.
