People are on edge because of the terrorism shit. If he has the need to shoot birds - head out to field and do it not in a metro area. He was only asking for hassles wandering a downtown area with a gun w/a scope. Wouldn't you question that visual???

ya shooting pigeons isnt uncommon. most places its still legal to shoot a airgun in a populated area. so aslong as hes not violating a law regarding airguns hes totaly innocent. and if not hes guilty of violating an airgun law and not responsible for the over reaction of the police nor should he have to pay for thier mistake. thats like saying soem one sees you trying to get into a car on the street. calls the police assuming your tryign to steal the car, and then the cops show up its your car all along, but hey now you have to pay for the gas the cops used to get there?

I play airsoft and the guns look incredibly real, some of them are fully tricked out with scopes and stuff. Airsoft guns or a pellet gun is in no way a kids gun. I know a guy who had the TAC team called on him becuase he was playing with one in his backyard. Carrying that shit WILL get u shot no guestions asked (i speak from personal experince). Carrying it around in a gun case is fine. Whiping it out in public or someplace were you dont have permission to is illegal.Here in Calgary if you call ByLaw services first and tell em what your doing its legal to use an airsoft or pellet gun in your backyard as long as there is no danager to anyone who may be walking by.

Now if his boss told him to get rid of the pigeons he should have called the cops or someone first to tell them that he was doing this to avoid the shit he caused. Hes lucky he actualy wasnt shot, had he pointed the rifle at anyone he wouldve been.

i do agree it may be in poor taste to have it out, but at the same time i dont agree with having to register with the gestapo to request permission to use a damn BB gun

what I find funny with the whole situation is that shooting some pigeons won't help, they just come back and in greater numbers. They should get either a fake owl or a falcon and let it remove the population. It is very effective. I also thought it was funny that the mayor was running across the street with a body guard to check on his wife who was in one of the buildings they locked down. You would think he could just call her.

You dont have to register a BB or Airsoft gun unless it shoots over 507 fps (154 m/s). But it is advisable to contacl authorites to tell them that you are usiding it to avoid instances like this. It means less hassel for you and the police in the long run.

i know you dont have to register it, but in time im sure the nazi law makers will make you. im just opposed to the whole concept of "you have a gun, so your guilty" just because soem one has a gun/bbgun/pball/airsoft gun doesnt mean that they should be treated as second class citizens nor should they be assumed violating a law or dangerous. im a cj major and have always supported officers right to defend themselves from everything from screw drivers to tanks. but not everyone with a screw driver is trying to kill some one. and not everyone with a gun is either

Napolean outlawed the use of air guns because they were capable of killing quietly and without warning. Lewis and clark carried an air gun with them as a technological marvel of the day. They are quite capable of killing in the proper configuration.

As for gun control, arm everyone. If everyone is capabale and willing to shoot back there will be less crime. And if you do commit crimes it won't be long before one of your victims ends your spree.

most good airguns are equivalant to a 22 caliber rifle, capable of killing, yes, a snipers ideal weapon of choice. no. unless a ruthless gang of olympic class airgun marksmans decide to rise against us... i think were safe.
