I got carpool violation. The sign says $271 fine. They tried to make me pay $375. Luckly i talked it down to $130.
Never gotten a ticket outside of CA, but i think its just a government thing to tell you one thing, and do another.

WA, if you don't have any tickets, they have a deferment program. You pay the full ticket, then don't have one in the next year, and it is never reported to your insurance or put on your driving record.
OR, They are so desperate for money, they don't reduce tickets anymore. Also, just passed 01/01/06, if you are caught going over 100 mph it is a $1,000 fine!!
Here in Jersey, you pay for convenience. You can pay you tickets online, but other charges apply whether or not you do it that way. It's to cover any losses the municipality incurs if you pay through the state website instead of the particular violations bureau . . however, you don't get those charges knocked off even if you pay in person. Fucking assholes. So a $20 meter overtime ticket becomes a $42 one, and a $25 street cleaning ticket becomes a $49 one.
From what I know, you should just go to court, pay reduced or maybe what's on the ticket and no points. No idea what happens if you have many, though I know one dude that had about 17 with still no points
"Whitey" - Florida is a beast of it's own. There was a guy who worked in sales at Fields BMW in Orlando that had 4 DWIs on his license and 2 on his deceased brothers. (They weren't even close to looking the same either...lol) And with all knowledge of that, they still let him do test drives with customers.
Yeah Florida is a little nuts, I had a Florida driver's license with a PA address on it. I never got a ticket there though. Do they still have no inspection or did they add an annual inspection?

umm over 100mph in CA=jail time..lol. They will take your license depending on the county you are in also. Some counties just 15 over they suspend ur license for 30 days. Of course there are apeals to all of this, but still CA rapes you when it somes to speeding

so the actual fine is the fine, they don't add 5 or 10 diferents costs to the fine?
In Calgary yes, but if you pay it at a DMV they tack on $9 as a service charge. Ususally the cop can be talked down into a lesser ticket or no ticket at all. Ive never gone to court to plead not guilty to a ticket so i dunno how well that works
