You shouldn't ever be burning any, but you can lose some when it's thrown around, and it will of course accrue impurities and viscosity more quickly if it's kept at high temperatures and rapid circulation, which are the conditions high rpm create.

2) Break the engine in much more than 1000 miles. That might be enough for normal people who drive sanely. But for us spirited drivers who like to drive hard everyday the engine needs more like 3k miles to be fully broken in before it can be driven to it's full potential.
3) NEVER BUY A SAAB AGAIN!!!
1. saab didn't make that car, subaru did. It was built in japan.
2. Those motors see boost that would blow up the E30 all the time, this is either a fluke or operator error. This block is the same block used in the STi.
3. I've seen the sump on those, you're running oil starved 99% of the time in the canyon, plus if your oil was low, you're fucked. It's large sump capacity (and oil starvation problem) is due to the fact that you're not supposed to drive it like that. If you were, you'd have LSDs and more power.
4. I'm not surprised that they fixed it, because with low miles on it, this is easily a lemon lawsuit. I am surprised that they told you that they would not fix it again.

5. Jesus christ, take care of your damn car.
true, saab didn't make the engine, but either way....I don't think dan and saabs are meant to be

It's cool that they are covering it. It is very stupid of them to do so. Most warranties are void if you track the car or otherwise abuse it. Well I guess Saab is just so happy to have customers they really don't care. Either way Spiff, you've one this one even though you shouldn't have.
I'm going to wake up one day in college, pick up a newspaper before class or work, and read that some kid in California has been arrested for doing a US record 235 miles per hour on the interstate in a gutted and modified 1985 325e.
