that is so gay that they said they wont replace it again, ive had similar expieriences w/ the ppl for the warranty at(yes, i know) ford said they wouldnt do the repair again, its not liek their losing money or anything, thats just the dealership,t he dealersihip actually MAKES money when doing these repairs, and secondly, if u blow ur engine, take it to another saab dealer

He's leasing. Only the dealer he is leasing from can make repairs on it because they own it.
And please tell me how it's gay that they won't replace it in case he blows it again ? The car was obviously abused.

I say low oil caused the failure. Without enough lubricant, metal to metal contact becomes extremely destructive very quickly. Having enough oil is absolutely critical. Probaly more important than letting the engine get a little too hot. If that happens, the oil just starts to break down and loose it's lubrication abilities, it's better than no oil

yeah i know, i think it probably was the oil, ill just have to pay attention to it every 500 miles now or something(lame).
and yeah, i gotta wait 1k again...so lame..then i can maybe drive it half as hard as i did the bimmer ::hehe::

If you were the dealer, what would you do ?
i didnt realize he was leasing
if i was the dealer, i would be glad to replace the engine agian, because the dealer DOESNT PAY FOR IT. Saab does, the mother company, the dealer actually makes money. Its the same exact think as for the customer to pay it, than saab paying it, either way, the dealer charges for labor

Maybe Saab (mother company) will only pay for one. After that the dealer is responsible. For example, maybe in the actual warranty it says they'll pay for one full engine replacement. *shrugs*
1) Check your oil every time your about to go drive touge. When you turn hard, your oil is thrown to the side of the pan and you run the risk of not picking any up (even if it is just slightly low).
2) Break the engine in much more than 1000 miles. That might be enough for normal people who drive sanely. But for us spirited drivers who like to drive hard everyday the engine needs more like 3k miles to be fully broken in before it can be driven to it's full potential.
3) NEVER BUY A SAAB AGAIN!!!

I read on one of the threads about oil consumption....aprently u burn alot more at redline/high RPMs? This might have been the cause.
I check my oil every week atleast once.
Nothing will take a beating engine wise like a bimmer.
