Ok guys (& babes) - my "lil bros" band just got a major record deal & wanted to share a track that will be featured. Just want your thoughts on it (since my opinion would be biased) The track is called pieces. (if you hear it in the near future you can say you heard it here first.)
Not bad at all. I'm no expert, however I'd say the background overpowers his voice. If he has the voice, let us hear it without being so smothered.
However that's nit-picking. It sounds great.
That's why my opinion is biased, I'm really picky and am his worst critic. The mix was done in the Hard Rock Cafe Dallas & #1 tough place to mix (has a glass dome over stage) #2 just some local house engineer who's not familiar with band, material and spatial placement of instruments and vocals in mix. I'm going to co-produce it and I'll get you some studio mixes once I get through with current run.

Once we get through the studio process, I'll "comp" all UBers that want one. (That'll be easier said than done for anyone who's into studio workings - sessions can be very monotanous - then the brother thing goes out the window . That's why I prefer the "live" gigs, if you have a bad night it's in the past town - new day, fresh start. In a studio it's like a confessional - and tape, digitial recorders, ADATs, etc are your judge & jury) On the bright side I can torture my younger bro - better start my prank list
They got signed by Reprise. I asked a couple of friends at Arista but they weren't really looking for a "young rock act". He (my bro) is lucky anyone was looking, record companies are really tight w/$$$ - they want something that looks promising and not "one hit wonders". I feel sorry for alot of the acts out there. There's tons of talent but few majors that want to do the "legwork" to prep them or give them $$$ to get them rolling. The hip hop guys have it the hardest, they usually have to finance themselves, promote themselves and do a majority of the publicist crap too. Alot of people don't appreciate what the hip hop acts have to go through. There needs to be more music history in schools these days for a better appreciation especially with all the diversity of genres. And radio stations if they EVER evaluated their playlists, maybe it would dawn on them why ratings SUCK - they play the same shitty 10 songs every hour for days I swear radio jocks are terrorists.....
