184-Proof whiskey anyone?

Quote:
March 1, 2006— Following a 17th-century recipe, one of the eight artisanal whiskey producers on the tiny Scottish isle of Islay will produce a dozen barrels of 184-proof whiskey Monday, the company announced.

That's 92 percent alcohol, which is about as strong as whiskey can get without being sold in a pharmacy.

"The first taste affects all the members of the body," a 1695 description of the elixir reads. "Two spoonfuls of this last liquor is a sufficient dose — if any man should exceed this, it would presently stop his breath, and endanger his life."

The Bruichladdich distillery said it would install Web cams so that customers thirsty with anticipation could watch the potentially lethal concoction come into being.

"If the distillery doesn't explode during the process," Bruichladdich added.
Wow must be damn good stuff if you like whiskey that is.

thats nothing we drink 190 proof all the time. When God sweats its 190 proof grain alcohol. My first experience with 190 proof was horrible took two shots of it and was done for the rest of the night, now mostly just mix it with Kool Aid.

It is a whiskey. It's about $600 a bottle, and purchasers can watch it being brewed via a special webcam in the brewing room. It's the uber-whiskey.
