Might be getting some new wheels...

All right, first off, i haven't been as active for a while, i've been looking for a job. But anyway...

Coming home from Omaha the other day, my dad tells me that my gramps got a smoking deal on a nice car. It's a 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300SD. (For those of you who don't know MB speak...that's Turbo Diesel) This thing is beautiful, considering it's age. Very little rust, 100k on a rebuild, body is straight as an arrow. How smoking, you might ask?

Total cost: $0

BUT HERE'S THE KICKER...

Apparently, my grandfather is contemplating the idea of GIVING it to me, rather than me buiying it from him.

Sorry, I had to say something.
Dave

However, this does not mean i am leaving, simply biding my time.

It's not like it a honda, or anything, it is still german.

Nice man, the 300SD was a pimp car. With a little work they can look asolutley amazing. I have a 190E sitting at my house and it has some great potential (if it ran).

Ah, my bad, I completely forgot about that. Sucks.

But you're right about the German thing, it's not so bad.... and the SD will be a fun little car.

my dad has a '76 (i don't know the model and no i'm 31 so i don't live with him) but it is nice, I test drove it for him before he bought it. It kinda floats everywhere which is amazing for such a large car. It is a little more disconnected than I prefer. I like feeling the road. But certainly a nice car none the less.

Yeah, by no means is it a fast car, and when my grandfather rebuilt the motor (yes...he did the rebuild) It had about 250k on it, and still running strong.

As for them looking older than they are, that was a Mercedes trademark for many years. I'll try to get some picutres of it in a while, we're working on it right now, so she's kind of dirty.

Not sure Exactly...don't have the VIN to decode right now.

Here is a few pictures i dug up on the internet, not mine, but same color. The only difference is that mine has the extended bump strips on the quarter panels.

Nice to hear... had it running this morning, just down to diagnosing the heater problem, think the control box wen to shit, but i don't really want to pay $400 for a new one if I don't have to. The 5 cylinder just purred.
