Best day at work EVER!

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Myyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Gooooooooooooooooooossssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

TODAY was a BLAST!
Let me tell you HOW AWESOME today was at work!

Sooo, I get there and move cars...and then am told there are chores...blah blah...so I start and finish 2/3rds of them...and then I'm paged that not to get too focused on the task that I had at hand. Sooo, I'm like ok.

So I get a customers car and the ask the manager what my next project was.
I'm told to go talk to 2 technicians and they have a car for me to drive.
I walk back and talk to the tech, and he points to this car.

An e39 2003 540i //M Sport Package.
This car is ONE HOTT car. I love this car! It is sporty and AWESOME!

Here is tech 1's response:
"Drive this car like a mad-man." "But.....don't get arrested."
"We need this car to switch gears lots of times"

Then I talk to tech 2.
"Oh, when you are out...occasionally pull to the side (shoulder) and go in reverse (and then switch it back into gear)."

Ok...no problem.

Sooooooooo. I take this car out....I'm gone. No restrictions (just don't get arrested)....I'm doing 80-90 in a 55. No sweat. I come to a stop light. Wait till it turns green. Flying down the road....then I decide to do the reverse thing. Switch over to the far right shoulder and go in reverse a couple times. Ok...good enough. Time to fly. I go to Kellogg and Andover and decide that that wasn't long enough. So, I turn around and going back...and I decide that K-96 would be a great opportunity to "test drive" this car. In all seriousness, I test drove this car just as the techs told me to.

On K-96 (speed limit 65), it was wierd, I would zip by some cars...and then slow down and do the reverse thing a couple times and then catch up (passing all the new people) and then PASS the original people I started driving with...and then a couple miles ahead of them....pull over and do the reverse thing. And do it all over again. LOL

Soooo....I'm flying down going 100-120 (I didn't even look at the speedometer that much)....and I didn't feel comfortable going over 120...so I slow down and speed up trying to swich gears as much as possible. Go to the shoulder and throw in a couple reverses...and decide to head back. Turn around at Rock and head back on K-96 with a couple more reverses thrown in. I'm happy and grinning when I get back.

I get back and pull inside and the 2nd tech asks me how many times I did the reverse thing.

Uhhhh...7-10 times.

"Not enough, go to the back lot and do it 10 more times." Ummm ok.
(Our back lot has like 1/4 mile of open road....where all the techs test drive the car) So I'm doing what I did on the "test drive"...and I get a page on my phone 4 minutes into the test drive.

The Chevy driver tells me that there is a speed limit in the back lot.
Ummm, ok. What is it? He says 90. Well....I'm only doing 50...so I'm ok. LOL. So I go back and forth with 10 reverses and come back to the shop.

I pull into the bay and turn off the car and the techs look at it and evaluate it....and then THANK ME! They BOTH THANK me and tell me WHAT A GOOD JOB I DID! WOW!

I guess whatever I did, I solved the problem or caused the problem (in which I'm suppost to do...duplicate the problem)...and then bring it back to them.) Soooo they both THANKED me...and then the manager thanked me for today when I left. LOL.

But, it was AWESOME!

oh, btw...it was the SAME car in my sig...except silver gray metallic.

Well the tranny was out...sitting below the car for a couple days.

I think they had some problems switching gears.

So, they gave me instructions...and I did what they wanted me to.

Fine by me.

Yeah, that's why I put it in the "Members Only" area.

I'm kinda hesitant.....but I'm pretty sure Harry can delete it and make it go away.

i dont think the odds of that are pretty good.. i mean look at a place like bimmerforums that is 3oX bigger than us... and they still only have a very small portion of all bmw drivers in even the U.S. let alone all over the world.... there are soooo many bimmers on the roads these days

Now add some dinan stuff to the 540i, a short shifter and then have some fun with it.
