So Im sitting in front of my computer, chekin out the forums when i get a call from an organization that wants to send kids with cancer to summer camp. That sounds like a worthy cause to me, but unfortunately, we give a certain amount each year to one local charity. Not to mention the five huge garbage bags full of childrens clothes and toys we gave to the red cross this last fall for the huricane katrina victims. So I politely tell the woman this and the fukin bitch snorts into the phone like a pig, asks me in a sarcastic way, "well what about kids with cancer?" I told her to go fuck her self. So she hung up on me. Since when do I have to give to every friggin person that calls my house? I have my own two kids to worry about. I cant even call the place back, they called from a private number.
So do you guys think I was out of line, you should have heard her talk. Very unprofesional.

that's a great way to get people to contribute, let alone listen to you. Should have tried to hear what organization she was with, googled, then called them back.

I also dont see the point of a private number for a charity organization. scammer?

scammer is definetly what i was thinking, bit only after i was hung up on. not that i blame her for hanging up on me, i would probably have done the same, but her tone was very peculiar for a charity

You weren't out of line at all. If the "ditz" at the other end of the line had a brain she would have been more cordial and "asked"- not implied. She has to remember she's asking for your help, if you're tapped out - fine - end of story, thank you. But to be rude to you - fuck her! No excuses, I don't care if she's had a bad day - she caused it and she's doing a big injustice for the cause. I give hundreds $ to charities but if they cop an attitude or their rep does - oh well it's their loss. Blow it off bro, they'll figure it out in time that that particular rep is worthless and is doing more damage than good for their cause. Some people lose perspective of what they're trying to acheive. If it was a scammer, then better yet - screw them!

Shame on anyone who tries to play on your conscience in the first place, end of story. If they're not professional about their operation, then they certainly don't deserve your hard earned money. 'Nuff said.

just remmber man, anytime u swear at anyone like a telemarketer or a sales rep from a store they can legally hang up on u without any warning

The reason you can't call a lot of those people back is because they call through their computers and you can't dial their #'s. Thats what I remember hearing from tv. It's annoying, all the time we get calls from a bunch of charities, as well as the police funds. We give to a few charities, and the cops once a year, but the cops call us almost every month now..

everybody asks for money these days. some group prob calls my house once a day. the most annoying ones are the ones that ask for clothes. they call every few weeks. wtf do they think i can generate several garbage bags of used clothes every few weeks

you cant give to everybody so you need to be selective on who you give to. i dont think you were out of line at all. i hate telemarketers.

^^ I dunno if its in Edmonton too, but in Calgary there was this list u could put ur name and # on that prevented telemarketrs from calling you. I think it was setup be Telus but im not 100% sure.

My dad signed up for the national one I believe it was, but they still get through.

yeah, we have given clothes a couple of times. And both times we did they called back within a month.

People call and pull that all the time, drives me nuts. I've told a few to go fuck themselves.. i always feel better after!

sometimes ill ask them for their numbers so I can call them at unappropriate times and demand that they listen to me lol
