In case you haven't heard, the Transit Workers Union went on strike in NYC, which means no trains or buses. HOV rules are in effect inbound manhattan- no vehicles coming in with less than 4 occupants. And the cabbies are ripping everyone off. It was kinda cool this morning, 'coz the streets were near empty here across the water. Since no one wants to carpool with strangers, a lot of folks decided to stay home. A judge fined the TWU one million dollars per day that the (illegal) strike goes on . . a small price considering this strike is costing the city 600 million a day
In New York City they have law making it illeagal for city union employees going on strike - going back to the '60s when the garbage guys went on strike for like a month and crap piled up in streets for weeks. It made New Orleans/Katrina disaster look like a small pile of litter
