My bike is a 2003 Trek 1500, it was about $999 with shoes and pedals probably $1200, it the highest of their lower end models, and I got it because of some upgraded components, and its still a pretty decent frame that I could upgrade components on if I wanted. I bet this time of year or early next year they will discount the 2005 models to make room for the 2006s which might save you some cash. Also make sure you have them fit you for the bike properly, mine should probably be the next biggest size frame.
My dad bought two road bikes last year, so that we could boke together..he nevers uses it but i do.
kinda kool to know u guys do this kinda stuff.

^^^That's actually an interesting point, since a lot of places I order from are in SoCal, like Wheel World, PricePoint, JensonUSA. Thay all run winter sales over the net, but I wonder if their in-store pricing is the same. However, they still have to clear out the previous year's inventory to make room for the following year, so I would think you'd get some good deals.
