well first of all there are several sites that run fantasy baseball leagues. I use Yahoo bc it is free. CBS Sports, ESPN.com and SportingNews.com run their own leagues, but you have to pay money to join. Yahoo has a pay leagues too. anyways you sign up at yahoo and register your team in either a public league (about 12 other managers randomly assigned by yahoo to that league) there are private leagues (set up by individual managers and are by invite only) you register a team name and depending on what league you choose public or private you are placed in a league.
there are two format styles you can choose to play, Head to Head (H2H) or Rotisseri. in H2H each week you are matched up against another manager in your league. your cumlative record over the season determines the winner of the league. in rotisseri style you accumulate your stats and ar ranked in each category against the other managers.
but i digress. first after being placed in a league you must draft you team. usually 20-25 players per team. this can be done by live draft, where all the managers meet online (using a yahoo applett) and draft thier teams in real time. (you sign up for a time slot ahead of time) the other way is to have yahoo auto draft you team for you.
after you have drafed your team then you set your roster and let the players play. you accumulate states based upon the players individual performance each day/night.
In H2H you compete for a week and each category your team has the better numbers (i.e. most saves) your team gets a Win for that category. there are normally 10 categories and your standing are based upon your weekly record.
in rotisserie you accumulate your stats over the season and are ranked against the other managers in your league and each category is ranked and you recieve points based upon your placement in the rankings, which are updated each day (i.e. you have the most strikeouts by pitchers in your league, you would get 12 pts in a 12 team league, etc.)
also you can pick up and drop players from your team from the free agent wire. there are tons of other things associated with fantasty baseball and strategies.
it goes on and on..... i love it bc i love baseball. i have 10 teams total and keep up with it each day. gotta love buring time at work. hahah.
well any more questions i can answer them for ya.
weph. my hands are tired.
