Quote:
MIAMI — An agitated passenger who claimed to have a bomb in his backpack was shot and killed by a federal air marshal Wednesday after he bolted frantically from a jetliner that was boarding for takeoff, officials said. No bomb was found.
Whoa...

I think the Marshal's did a FANTASTIC job.

Hopefully this will send a big message to all of the idiots that think they can make these empty threats about having a bomb, gun, knife or any other sort of weapon on board a plane.

These guys are NOT here to screw around.

I have no sympathy for anyone who claims to have a bomb. No matter where - plane or no plane, you might as well have pulled a gun - You Are Fair Game! Air Marshalls are paid to do a job & those guys mentioned, did their jobs.
How many reminders do we need - these clowns do exist and we're not debating the issue - "Games ON"

well at least out of this incident, people will know that 1) there ARE air marshalls on planes and 2) not to mess with them under ANY circumstance.

i commend the air marshall on a job well done. he couldnt have know if the threat was fake or real. even with his wife yelling at the marshall. for all he knew she could have been in on the plot too...

I also have to agree, job well done, but I can see people being outraged because of a supposid mental problem. In anycase they did what they were trained to do and had to make a decision and I believe they did what they were trained to do.

(My version)

Investigations have begun after US air marshals on board an American Airlines flight shot and killed a man who started acting suspiciously. (why waste an investigation - end of story)

US citizen Rigoberto Alpizar, 44, fled before take-off in Miami, saying he was carrying a bomb, officials said. (first mistake)

It was later confirmed that Alpizar had no explosives in his luggage. Witnesses suggested that the Costa Rican-born man may have suffered from mental illness. (yea -SO?)

The fatal shooting was the first since more marshals were deployed after 9/11. (they're not trying hard enough)

James Bauer, head of the US air marshal service in Miami, said that controlled explosions carried out on Alpizar's luggage confirmed he was not carrying a bomb. (just blew his shorts all over the runway)

There was no indication of any link to terrorism, but federal air marshals were deployed in airports around the US as a precaution, Mr Bauer added. (never know if he had friends)

'Unstable' (anyone claiming he has a bomb - yea I go along with that)

Alpizar had arrived in Miami, Florida, from Ecuador on a flight that had originated in Colombia. He was boarding a flight to Orlando at about 1410 local time (1910 GMT). (proves he was going to F#$K Mickey)

I did hear the lady say her husband was bipolar and had not had his medication (I heard the Air Marshall say "here's your medication")
