It was Daimlers' daughters name.

that post about " does your dad ever..." made me think of that. my dad told me that years ago. But what he told me was that daimler and some other mfg. of cars ( sorry cant remember that part) were to merge companies. and daimler wanted the company named after his daughter. apparently the deal almost fell through because the other guy wouldnt agree to it.

Please. Porsche is named after Dr. Ferdinand "Ferry" Porsche, who founded the company. he also engineered the VW beetle, which is why the two companies have always worked together so closely.

i think that story only applies to Mercedes. I've heard nothing of the sort about Porsche. I know only what I saw on the History Channel special.

History Channel is sweet, as is discovery channel and animal planet.(except for the animal cop shows)
