ever had a professor

have you ever had a professor who simply doesnt know what the hell there talking about. when you have a far better grasp of the concepts than they do?

right now im taking a course. Police Community and Society

the whole course is about community policing. the idea of community policing is to man your police force so that they can most effectivly interact with the community. obviously the community is the determining factor in comminity policing. this goes to say that ever force will be atleast slightly differanct based ont he communitys problems, attitude, demographic, ect.

but this professor treats community policing like its a single, uniform program, and expects us to answer questions, with no background on the community, on the people we are supposed to be serving.

added, if this is hard to read, i appologize. ive been drinking. adn writing a paper for the class haha i love college.

oh and what stems this all is shes having us write a paper about "who you think would make an ideal police officer" and also a little about how you would set up your police force. including race, gender, education... ect.

well my home town of agawam is ATLEAST 95-97% white ( total of 24% italian) we have .25 the national average of violent crimes( murder, rape, assault). and .50% the average of propertie crimes ( GTA, Burglery, ect) and obviously my police force is greatly differant than say, New York city.

but on the same note we have a high rape amount, so i may need more female officers, because a female victim is more likely to confide in a female officer than a male.

is this making sense? cause its not only this paper but everyday in class she wants us to generalize on a topic,a philosophy that almost forbids generalization.

Yeah it makes sense. Every town and city and community have different needs. Your police force would not fit the needs of Miami - Dade for example.

Yea, I had a couple of those in audio school - they BS "vaguely enough" to sound like they know what they're talking about (it's also a false sense of job security) and they think you are taking their lectures as gospel. "Legends in their own minds".

It sounds like you're more in touch with what really needs to happen, stick with it bro, it's people like your professor that's got this country in to the dilemmas we have.

Your Ride: Whatever I can get my hands on
all the time. if they actually knew what they were supposed to be teaching, they'd be in the private sector getting paid a hell of a lot more to do it than to tell you how you SHOULD do it.
