Avian Flu

Quote:
It could kill a billion people worldwide, make ghost towns out of parts of major cities, and there is not enough medicine to fight it. It is called the avian flu.

This week, the U.S. government agreed to stockpile $100 million worth of a still-experimental vaccine, while at the United Nations Summit in New York, both the head of the U.N. World Health Organization and President Bush warned of the virus' deadly potential.

Whoa.... I've heard them talking about this for a while, but didn't realize it was this big of a deal. Damn....

there is 1 basic solution. kill all the birds in the world. then we will be rid of the avian flu before it can mutate into a strain that can infect humans.

Too late. And you won't necessarily get it from birds, who knows what it's done to other species by now

We're all screwed. If they don't crank out more of that Tamiflu, this thing could be the Plague of the 21st century. Definitely not cool.

^^^I third the motion.

The avian flu epidemic of 1918 killed a massive number of people, and if you want to look at it apathetically, it is simply Mother nature's own form of population control. If we can't learn to play nice, maybe she thinks we shouldn't play at all.
