Your Ride: Whatever I can get my hands on
My weekend
So i went home from school this weekend to help my dad rebuild the intrepid's engine. it started out with use just taking off the heads. but there waasn't anything wrong there other than one of the pistons hitting the head. So we took the rest of the engine apart and out and removing the block from the car.
everything is now apart and ready to be taken to the machine shop and having everything remachined. the problems with the car was a piston hitting the head and all the bearings on the crank were bad so they're getting replaced and there were a few places that needed polished
the link below is pictures, not hosted on UB to save us some bandwidth for anyone who hasn't seen an engine COMPLETELY taken apart down to a bare block, enjoy. any closeup shots shot damage if you look hard enoguh.
i'm going home next weekend to put everything back together

You have three choices, stand behind our troops, grab a gun and toe the line with our troops, or stand in front of them, they can use the extra armor.
its funny b/c every time ive rebuilt/replaced an engine, im left with a bucket of screws(usually in a coffee can) and i think.. wooopsie, hey it runs though!

lol. we didn't. but this isn't the first time we've done this to the exact same engine in my dads old intrepid a couple years ago. I'll tell you what though, this was the MOST disorganized engine bay i have EVER seen. there were wires and cables and hoses EVERYWHERE. as oppossed t the navigator's engine we rebuilt last eyar that had everything really organized. The hardest part was getting past all teh crap, but once you get past all the crap they put on engines these days like sensors and all that stuff, its still just an engine. The longets part was getting to the point where we could break out the real tools.
I do not suggest completely disassembling ANY engine n matter how organized it is unless you know what you're doing. i know so many people that thought they could do it, but couldn't get things put back together again or they scratch one of the polished pieces and don't think anything of it and end up destrying the engine.
remember, the MOST important thing about engine rebuilds is you put everything back EXACTLY where you found it. each screw has already been stressed by being in a certain place, don't put it anywhere else (READ: CAMS!)

yeah, with the BMW engine, you really dont have to worry about that, b/c its soo amazing, all the sensors are connected to the wire harness and that just goes to the ECU(unless ur new engine doesnt come with a wiring harness)
