The Death of a family.

Some people wonder why i'm on so much. On United Bimmer. Its because United Bimmer IS my life. Literally. You see, My family is slowly dying. Not my immediate family, but my most likely future In laws. My girlfriends mother is slowly dying of cancer. It Started out as thryoid cancer. So they cut out her thyroid gland and put her n daily medication to make up for. That was a year ago. Things were great. everyone thought that the cancer was gone. Sadly, it wasn't. The cancer had spread to her breasts and her brain. In her brain is an inoperable brain tumor. So some day she will die.

Her dying doesn't just affect her, it affects the whole family andeverybody who is close to the family. Not only is a part of all of us dying, but we are all slowly growing apart, and at the same time growing together. But there's lots of fighting and lots of therapy to be done. Everyone fights with everybody every day because there's so much pent up anger with nowhere to go so it slowly but surely leaks into every day life.

So at the end of every day, where i spend all my time either in class or on the phone with my girlfriend and her siblings, I come here. This is my life. This is MY therapy. I spend my day listening t everyone else and helping everyone else feel better and cope with the inevitability of life. So when i come ehre, this is my lie. My release. Its a web based forum, but still, its more real to me than possibly anything in this world ther than being with my girlfriend.

I don't know if that had any point. I just decided to post about it after harry suggested that i open up a bit, it might help. This is what came out

All i ask that is that there is absolutely no bashing language r racism of any kind in this thread. It was hard enough to hit the submit button, don't make it worse, please.

Tough news man, sorry to hear.

On a positive note, I'm glad we are here as your "release". If there's anything anyone can do to help out, just post what you need.

We're here for you, and we do have the ability to buckle down and be serious, especially in situations such as these. Keep the chin up, bud.

Cancer is a terrible thing to have to deal with. My mom's best friend has had it for almost six years now, going in and out of remission. I doubt if there's someone here whose life hasn't been affected by cancer, so don't feel like you're alone (even though I'm sure you do). I'm sure any one of us would be happy to listen.

^^^Agreed. I'm sure with a member base as large as UB has, many of us have known, or know someone who has suffered. In fact, my brother is a survivor.

Cancer is a rough road. My mom is now 9yrs into remission, but I remember the anger and denial I faced initially, and am sorry you have to see theose same dark places.

Keep in mind that after a trial like this, the eventual end, as horrible as it sounds, will bring peace to the person's life.

Medicine has done what it can, so now its your turn. Hug her. Spend time with her. Succeed. These are things that will make her happy. Your family fighting? It can only make her position even more difficult, and you all need to see that.

Good luck.

My mom just cleared the 1 year mark of being cancer free following the removal of a cancerous brain tumor.

3 years ago I sat at the bedside with one of my best friend's and watched his father pass away after a 5 year battle with esophageal cancer.

It's hell. It doesn't discriminate. It needs to be cured.

Hang tight, there's strength in numbers.
