Logitech X530 5.1 ... Less than a 100, and from what I've read they are quite excellent for being so cheap.

Not that I know of. A TV doesn't have any kind of amplifier/receiver ...

just hook up a cd player to your tv using the AUX, and play your sound through there, that's what my family did, so the sound is wayy better, and then you can also have surround sound.

just buy a pioneer vsx 7.1 reciever (good for cheap) an get some decent speakers that you like from circuit city (h/k's and infiniti's sound pretty decent for the price).

Yea.. you can make an OK setup for not much money.. 300-400 will get you something that sounds pretty nice.

I was actually looking at TV's today too.. looking at the sony HD 27 inch.

Panasonic home theater kits are fairly inexpensive, and consistently get good reviews. Probably the best bang for the buck.

I snagged a nice set of logitech 5.1 computer speakers for like 90$ (retail for over 175) and used an RCA to 3/5" or whatever headphone cable to hook it to my mothers TV in her den and it sounds great as hell.

Or, if you wanted to go shitfucking crazy, get a harman kardon AVR 235, a set of klipsch QuintetII's (and grab 2 extra satellites off ebay to make it 7 ch), find a badass powered sub or build one yourself (a 15" Resonant Engineering XXX and a QSC RMX 2450 amplifier will blow your brains out, and your power bill.. 2.4 KW is nothing to laugh at.)

I cheeped out and got an Adire Audio Tumult ($500 for just the sub) and my buddy's letting me use his QSC RMX 1850HD for the time being (still not enough juice!)

There are no cheap quality audio options. Unless you consider a few hundred dollars cheap, in which case there are plenty.
