Larry Ellison is going to be the new Larry Page and Sergey Brin! This is huge!
Have you guys noticed this trend? Oracle has has bought out every other major CRM company except Microsoft and SAP within the past year. Siebel was a multibillion dollar buyout, and if you guys remember earlier this year Oracle enacted a hostile takeover bid of PeopleSoft. My guess is SAP is going to be their next aquisition, however SAP is mostly international, and Oracle is more local, so this might be their change to in a single swoop take dominance of the CRM marketshare, as well as expand their operations overseas. Mark my words, in 5 years Microsoft is going to be out of the picture completely and the big players in technology are going to be Oracle and Google. I think technology is going to expand off the internet, still maintaining the internet as a backbone. Notice how eBay also just bought Skype, one of the top VOIP companies for up to $4 billion dollars, when it's annual income is only $60 million. That is an astronomical level of inflation, showing something big is about to go down in VOIP. Also earlier this year Microsoft bought out Teleo, and Yahoo! bought out Dialpad... two major players in the VOIP market. This market is going to explode soon, and everyone knows it. Google is sitting on around $7 billion dolllars now of savings that there's speculation of them building a fiber optic network through every major city in the country, also getting into VOIP.
Ah, I could go on for hours about my speculations on the future of technology, but I won't bore you guys anymore. There is major things happening in Silicon Valley these days and I just wanted to shed some light on it to anyone interested.

CRM=Customer Relationship Management. It's an integrated information system that is used to plan, schedule, and control the pre-sales and post-sales activites in an organization. It deals with prospects and customers, from the Call Center, to the Field Service folks. The goal of CRM is to improve long-term growth and profitability through a better understanding of customer bahavior.
VOIP=Voice Over IP. This is a telephone service that uses the internet as a global telephone network. They have Telephone Adapter Based and Softphone Based. TAB, which uses a regular telephone (with some added hardware and software), can generall make calls to any regular phone, and receive calls from any phone. Software Based phones require using the computer to make and receive calls. It's usually a no-cost option, if both sides are on the same service. Softphones allow you to call any phone in the world no matter where you are in the world, from your laptop. Of course, as long as you have an internet connection.
It's all really interesting. If I were smart, I would have bought into it when it was still brand-spankin' new...but I'm not exactly the brightest crayon in the box. Hope this helps Spieluhr.
