It is really a major historic event. Weirdly, sat phones don't even seem to work in some areas!

Almost the exact same thing that this storm did happened in the early 1900's, but it landed in galveston (sp?) texas, it literally wiped the town off the face of the earth.. only thing was, more than 3/4 the population of the town died because they didnt have the same weather forcasting abilities that we have now.

This is basically the same kind of storm.. except the earlier one had estimated winds of up to 200+ MPH, but the instrumentation they had to read the wind got blown away at 140 MPH.

theres a book about it called Isaac's Storm if anyones interested.. sposed to be a good read.

I must have heard that shit about the hurricane raising prices 20 times on the radio this week before katrina hit, im sure it was all over the news too, say something enough times and people start to beleive it.
Uhhh, when domestic refineries are shut down, prices go up. This has nothing to do with conspiracies, the war, etc.

I think the refineries being unable to open, much less produce, is a decent reason for once.

i saw a thing on the news this morning, this guy was with his 2 or 3 little kids and he was just in tears muttering about how he was holding onto his wife's hand when she was swept away and he couldn't find her and had no idea what to do or where to go, the reporter lady was in tears as well, very sad

^^^ i saw something to the same extent, maybe even same story...but it was a video, not interview...but anyways, a man and his wife were on their roof and their house split in two and the husband was on one part and the wife was on the other...and the wife drownd. very sad story...i think the worst pics i've seen are the 100s of neighborhoods are filled up to the roofs with water.

Please try not to compare the two. The loss of life may be similar, but circumstances are VASTLY different.
