As of sunday the Calgary Police Service is instituting a crack down on anyone with their front windows tinted. The crack down lasts for 2 weeks. Police are warning drivers if there front windows are tinted to remove it now or face serious fines.

thats crap... i would remove the windshield and when they stopped me say that if i had my front winshied tinted i should have it removed... and thats what i did.....

an easy fix for the front windows would be to jsut drive with the windows down so they can't tell

I think that is just too impractical and won't last.

It has lasted over here - the seriousness of the offence is directly related to the amount of light your front windows let in.

I can't rmember the figures but stage 1 is around a 30% tint (lets 70% of light through) and is a small fine. After that it is a "remove and bring to the station and receive a bloody great fine" ticket. Next is a "your car isn't going anywhere - remove on the spot or have it towed" + a bloody great fine.

Cops over here are issued with a gun that they place on your glass and it tells them the amount of tint.

Personally I intend on at least a 30% over the standard tint and if I get caught I get caught - I'm man enough to take the rap.

you said it only lasted two weeks ... so either don't drive for 14 days or drive with the windows down or i can't read...
