Why do we hide our tags?

Hey, after posting pics of my mom's car, I was wondering why de we hide our license plates when we host pics? I do it because everyone else does it, but never stoped to ask my self what the purpose behind it was...

It wouldn't be easy. But hiding them renders the question irrelevant

Its stupid to do it unless you actually own a valuable car.. i dunno why i do it.. just makes me feel safer i guess, haha. People with really valuable cars should do it though.. look what happened to dado.

well alot of theives can sue ur plate to find out were you live, usually to steal your car and other house hold possesions. I read a story of some really smart thieves jacking some guys brand new 7 series, it still had th dealer plate on it when it was stolen.

if you piss someone off over the interweb, and if you live in a nearby city... if they saw your car and the plates matched up, they could always key it, shoot it, pee on it, ect...
