Freedom Tower

Have you guys read about Freedom Tower yet? It's the tower to replace the World Trade Center.

Quote:
Freedom Tower is to rise 70 floors and be topped by wind-harvesting turbines that designers predict will provide 20 percent of the building's energy.

The tower's height of 1,776 feet, symbolic for the year of American independence, includes a 276-foot spire.

The torqued tower -- its east and west sides twist as they rise -- and the spire are meant to echo the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.

The tower is to have a concrete core and be encased in a steel cable netting that will brace the building. Childs likened the cables to suspension bridge cables, such as those holding up the Brooklyn Bridge.

What are your thoughts on it?

I kinda like it. The wind turbines is a great idea. They should add solar panels too

I love it, but they should shape it as a middle finger.

Honestly, I like it as it is!

I think it is a great idea. I would love to see some fuckers try to crash into this building and just burn to flames while the building remains unscathed

The tower is gonna get a major re-design because it was found to not meet the new standards set by the government in the wake of 911. So it wont be all glass... and will be jst as tall, but with less office space than originally planned.

I like the design and agree that the footprints should be preserved as part of the memorial.

it's good to know people have been able to get back to their normal lives again and put things in the past.

However, I still think we need to keep on with the war and destroy all who were involved

That's a broadcast antenna for the NYC area, to replace the one that was on the WTC. One of the main requirements of the design competition that was held.
