There saying that the failures from the previous practice days may have been caused by a poorly made track.

Apparently the track was re-ground with diamonds (??) this past winter and some american racing leagues were having problems with it as well.

Supposedly it had been fixed, but who knows. Bridgestone may have had some inside info regarding this from their experience with the track in the american racing leagues.. giving them the knowledge that is causing their tires to last and michelins to fail...

Either way it sucks.. but the teams couldnt go out there with equipment that wasnt deemed safe by the manufacturers. The behavior of the american fans is unbeleivable, i cannot beleive people have been throwing shit out onto the track.. ferrari had to peel a beer can out of one of their rear tires... That kind of ignorance is dispicable, it just proves how retarded our public really is.. and its being broadcasted to every country in the world.

:bash

From watching the lead up and the race start even knowing what was coming, Michelin can Kiss my butt!

You run the track in front of you. If you break, at least you tried!

IIRC both tire companies tested at Indy not all that long ago so they knew what the track was like. Its not like the place was grown from a Magic Track Seed overnight!

If they had done this POLITICAL BULL**** at the Italian GP at Monza the fans would have stormed the track in protest. Beer cans are mild!

I'm happy to be running Goodyear F1s.

Did the visitors get their money back? If no, I feel disappointed with the F1..... :(

Usually there is about 24 cars. It can change by season, but at least 10 teams (20 cars)
*Numbers may vary a bit

The FIA made such a bad decision to not bend the rules in this instance. They said that if the track were changed, the race would not be counted as a sanctioned (SP?) race. So instead, they have no race at all.

There are so many solutions that could have resolved the problem. But instead the FIA decieded to ruin the only US race on the F1 schedule.

I am not surprised that the fans were throwing trash on the track. Although it shows no class, I can understand the anger that people would have with such a farse.

As c4talyst mentioned, Bridgestone most likely had some tire data from the American teams that ran at the track since the diamond cutting took place. However, Michilen should have taken the time to do proper testing on the track so that this would not have taken place. They obviously did not take the banking and fresh surface of the speedway into consideration when they were designing this years tire. This whole situation is at the hands of Michilen. I hope in the future they do not overlook such a large part of developement.

the FIA said that they could run the new tires flown in from France but the teams desided they had flaws as well and it was still unsafe to race.

THE FIA DID BEND THE RULES
